Free Paycheck Budget Printables: Plan One Paycheck at a Time

I used to budget once a month, and it never worked. On the first of the month everything looked fine on paper. Then payday landed on the 5th, rent was due on the 8th, the phone bill on the 12th, and I would be staring at a checking account wondering how the math had lied to me.
The fix was embarrassingly simple: stop planning the month and start planning the paycheck. I call it The Paycheck Plan. Every paycheck gets its own page, and before I spend a dollar of it I decide what it has to cover until the next one arrives. This free kit gives you the pages to try it.
What is inside
- A one page guide to the method, with quick answers for weekly pay and changing pay
- The Paycheck Budget Sheet: bills, variable spending, savings and a zero check, with one filled-in example and two blanks
- The Monthly Bill Calendar, filled in once and blank once
- The Variable Spending Tracker, also filled in once and blank once
- 9 printable pages, US Letter, plain paper is fine
Three things you will see in the kit
The worked paycheck. The example plans a $1,180.00 paycheck plus $20.00 left over. Bills due before the next payday add up to $928.00 (rent $650.00, electric $82.00, phone $45.00, car insurance $96.00, internet $55.00). Variable spending is budgeted at $210.00, and $62.00 goes to an emergency fund and a car repair sinking fund. The zero check reads $0.00, and that is the goal of every sheet.
The bill calendar. Instead of a list, you write each bill on the day it is due and mark your paydays. In the example, the rent on the 8th clearly belongs to the paycheck from the 5th, and the streaming service on the 22nd belongs to the paycheck from the 19th. Seeing it on a grid ends the guessing.
The spending tracker. Groceries get $130.00 for the pay period. After three shopping trips of $48.10, $39.75 and $36.50, the tracker shows $5.65 left, which tells you to stop and not to wander through the snack aisle on Friday.
How to use it
- Print the filled-in pages first and read them next to the blank ones.
- On your next payday, fill in one Paycheck Budget Sheet in pencil.
- Put every bill that is due before the following paycheck on that sheet.
- Budget groceries, gas and fun, then move leftover money to savings or debt until the zero check hits $0.00.
- Keep the Variable Spending Tracker where you will actually see it and log purchases the same day.
It takes about ten minutes, and the second time it takes less. If you want a full year of pages and the chapters that explain every step, the workbook below does exactly that.
